2007 Midwest Penturning Gathering
The '07 MPG
Well, the 2007 Midwest Penturning Gathering is now history. Unofficially 45 attendees respresenting 8 states: Il, IN, WI, OH, AR, TX, TN, MO. Due to attendee response we are pleased to announce there will be a 2008 event, Stay tuned hear as we begin to post information. Hope to see you there!
Once we begin to edited the footage that was taped, we will post some picutres and write ups. There will be a DVD available and I believe the price is only $10.00. Stay tuned for their release and ordering information.
What to expect . . .
This is our first attempt at hosting such an event so things will not be greatly extravagant. Basically held as a gathering to share information, make new friends and have fun all centered around our shared interest in turning pens. I would like to thank the Urbana Park District for the use of the facilities.

"Penturning 101" by Rich Coer 10:30-11:30am
"The 50 BMG Pen" by Phil Sherman 11:30-Noon
LUNCH!!!!! Noon-1:00pm
"Turning Acrylics" by Ed Brown. 1:00-1:30pm
"Plexiglass Finish" by Chris Cannon 1:40-2:10pm
"Shell Casing Conversion" by Kenny Mayes 2:20-2:50pm
"Bottlestoppers" by Ed Brown. 3:00-3:30pm
"Shell Casing/Arrow Conversion" by Greg Cozad 3:40-4:00pm
Depending on the time needed for question and answer sessions following the demos, scheduled times may be rolled back to make allowance for this thus we will cancel the last demo.
Each demonstration will be followed with a question and answer session. We are hoping to get some of the more advanced turners in attendance to set on a panel for an open question and answer session.

We are also asking that attendees bring at least two blanks. These will be collected and given away as a prize. If a very large amount is collect, it will be split into two prizes. This is totally voluntary and not required. Everyone will have a chance at winning.
We have been given a green light for Show-Swap-Sell area!!!! We will be providing tables. Set-up time between 8 and 10 am. Please contact us if you are planning on participating so we know who to expect and how many tables we will need. We need to be cleaned up by 6pm.
